Well-maintained facilities important to Council

26 Jul 2023, 4:18 PM

Waitomo District Council is committed to providing its communities with well-maintained, hygienic, and clean facilities that everyone can enjoy.

However, we have encountered a concerning issue with individuals engaging in vandalism and graffiti, which is having a detrimental impact on our community.

Our dedicated property and facilities team works tirelessly to ensure that our public spaces are safe, welcoming, and functional for all residents and visitors. Unfortunately, these acts of vandalism not only tarnish the appearance of our facilities but also lead to unnecessary expenses that are ultimately borne by our ratepayers.

While we are disappointed by this persistent issue, It is also important to highlight that the actions of a small group do not represent the values or behaviours of the wider community. We also want to assure you that we are committed to removing tagging, promptly. Your patience and understanding is appreciated.

The council strongly encourages the community to remain vigilant and adopt a "see something, say something" approach. We encourage the community to actively participate in reporting any suspicious activities to our 0800 932 4357 phone number or directly to NZ Police.
