Public notification: Military funeral on Sunday in Te Kūiti.

A forward notice that there will be firing of blank cartridges which produce loud bangs in support of a military funeral sometime between the hours of 1.30pm to 3pm on Sunday in Te Kūiti.

There will be soldiers marching around the town in support of the funeral ceremonial event with weapons, so please do not be alarmed or concerned.

Road repairs to start on Te Anga Road and Te Waitere Road

6 Mar 2025, 8:57 AM

Work will start next week to repair and upgrade a section of Te Anga Road and Te Waitere Road.

The upgrades are in response to previous storm damage with work including pavement (road surface) reconstruction through the slumped areas, and drainage improvements on new and existing culverts to improve resilience.

The final surface will be chip seal.

General Manager Infrastructure Service, Shyamal Ram says it is pleasing to see more roading rehabilitations being undertaken in our district.

“Our roading network has suffered extensively over the years due to storm damage. It has taken some time to repair our roads because of differing levels of damage and funding availability, but we are getting there and we thank our community for their understanding and patience.”

Splice Construction was awarded the contract following a tender process. Work will start next week and will take about five weeks for each site.

During this time there will be some disruption to traffic flows due to the constrained site locations with temporary traffic management in place to allow for the sites to be constructed safely.

The overall completion for both sites is in May 2025.
