Town clock investigation underway

Unfortunately our iconic town clock has stopped working properly again with each of the sides displaying a different time.
We have enlisted the services of Pilbrows Watchmakers to investigate and address the fault and they will be onsite in the next few days to help us identify the root cause of the problem.

Tuesday 16 July 2024 - 4.30pm: Emergency water shutdown: George Street, Te Kūiti

The water supply to George Street in Te Kūiti has been temporarily shutdown in order to fix a watermain leak. At this stage we are unable to determine how long it will take to fix. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for understanding.

16 July 2024 - 2.30pm

Upcoming overnight road closure: Mangarino Road, Te Kūiti – 19 July 2024

A temporary road closure will be in place on Mangarino Road, Te Kūiti from 9am Friday 19 July until 9am the following morning 20 July.

The road closure is to allow maintenance work on the Mangarino Road Bridge. The works will take place above the bridge deck as part of regular maintenance. We will make every effort to minimise disruption, but please note that these are essential structural maintenance works to keep the bridge operational.

Thursday 11 July 2024 - 9am Emergency water shutdown

 

Update - 2.15pm: The water supply is back on again. Thank you for your understanding.

Unfortunately we have an emergency water shutdown this morning along Eketone Street, Te Kūiti due to a burst water main.

The shutdown is from the corner of Colin Brook place and along Eketone Street and will likely last until lunchtime.

We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.

Monday 24 June 2024 - 3pm

Planned water shutdown: William Street, Te Kūiti – Wednesday 26 June 2024

Waitomo District Council has planned to shutdown the water supply to the northern part of William Street and a few houses on Anzac Street and Julian Street in Te Kūiti.

The shutdown will be from 8.30am to 4pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024 to enable Council contractor McIndoe Group to replace an old water pipe.

If the works cannot go ahead on Wednesday, the alterative day is Thursday 27 June 2024.

UPDATE: The Te Kūiti water treatment plant is operational again, but we are still asking people to conserve water while the reservoirs fill. We appreciate your cooperation last night and thank you for your continued understanding.

Te Kūiti Residents - Please conserve water

Our water treatment plant in Te Kūiti is currently experiencing a technical breakdown, which has resulted in the treatment plant not being able to operate properly or treat water.

We will likely not have enough water to accommodate the township tonight. PLEASE CONSERVE WATER AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.

A water main has been shutdown so that our water services team can repair a leak on Anzac Street, Te Kūiti
This will affect the properties on Anzac Street from Matai Street down to Te Kūiti Road.

We are currently undertaking emergency water leak repairs in Awakino today. Water levels are at a critical level and we ask the public to please use water sparingly.
