Weather Watch - High wave warning along coastline

A high wave warning is in place for our coastline this weekend. A strong westerly swell is expected from Saturday 24 January through to Sunday 25 January, with a swell event (high energy waves) and elevated water levels predicted.

This wave event is big, even for the west coast, with forecast swell over 5 metres and maximum wave height over 10 metres possible. The highest risk period is within 1-2 hours of high tide.

The next high tide for the coastline from Marokopa to Mōkau is around 2pm on Saturday. For Sunday, high tide is around 2.50pm.

WAITOMO DISTRICT RATES REMINDER

This is a friendly reminder that the second instalment of your 2016/17 rates in due by 5pm, Wednesday 30 November 2016. Rates invoices were posted out in November. Payments received after 5pm, November 30 will attract a 10% penalty.

Rates payments can be made at the Waitomo District Council office, Queen Street Te Kuiti, over the phone by credit card or by Internet Banking using your valuation number as your reference.

NOTICE OF ROUTINE HYDRANT FLUSHING 

Veolia Water will be undertaking routine hydrant flushing to improve the quality of the water supply in Te Kuiti, Benneydale, Mokau and Piopio from Friday 25 to Monday 28 November 2016.

TE KUITI - Eastern Side:

  • Anzac Street, Boddies Terrace, Broadfoot Place, Corinth Avenue, Ellison Avenue, Esplanade, Hinerangi Street, Kiwi Street, Liverpool Street, Mahoe Crescent, Ngarongo Street, Sturgess Terrace, Tammadge Street, Taruna Place, Taupiri Street, Tawa Heights, Tawa Street, Waitete Road, Walker Road, Wesley Avenue. 

TE KUITI - Western Side:

While undertaking this work, Veolia Water will make every effort to minimise the impact on supply.  In the event that temporary deterioration of your water quality occurs due to flushing in your street, it is advisable to first run your garden tap then the others for several minutes to remove any air bubbles and to restore water clarity.  Please do not run water through in house filters before taps are running clear.
