Weather Watch - High wave warning along coastline

A high wave warning is in place for our coastline this weekend. A strong westerly swell is expected from Saturday 24 January through to Sunday 25 January, with a swell event (high energy waves) and elevated water levels predicted.

This wave event is big, even for the west coast, with forecast swell over 5 metres and maximum wave height over 10 metres possible. The highest risk period is within 1-2 hours of high tide.

The next high tide for the coastline from Marokopa to Mōkau is around 2pm on Saturday. For Sunday, high tide is around 2.50pm.

Notice of planned Water Shutdown

 – Waitete Road Te Kuiti

Waitomo District Council will be undertaking planned works on Waitete Road Te Kuiti to install a shutdown valve at the Te Kuiti Water Treatment Plant.

There will be a temporary interruption of the water supply on Thursday 17 November 2016, from 9am to 12 noon.

Please be assured that these works will be carried out as quickly as possible. While undertaking this work, WDC will make every effort to minimise the impact on supply. In the event that temporary deterioration of your water quality occurs, it is advisable to first run your garden tap then the others for several minutes to remove any air bubbles and to restore water clarity.  Please do not run water through in house filters before taps are running clear.
