Sometimes accidents happen... 
The water supply to Lawrence Street will need to be shutdown for a few hours while contractors repair a broken watermain. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Urgent water shutdown for leak detection in Maniaiti/Benneydale
We have discovered that there is a large leak in the water network in Maniaiti/Benneydale that we need to find and fix, as we are losing a lot of water.
Waitomo District Council contractor McIndoe Group will be shutting down the water in Maniaiti/Benneydale today in order to try locate the leak.
Leak detection helps identify where there could be faults in the network and can also help determine where water loss is occurring.
There will only be a temporary interruption to water supply, and it should not overly disrupt or interfere with normal usage.
Work will include turning off a valve at each street for a few minutes to check for changes in water pressure.
A leak detection device will also be used to listen for leaks on the water mains.
If the leak is detected in the Council-owned network, repairs will be undertaken.
If you experience unclean water flow afterwards, please wait 10 minutes and then run an outside tap for at least five minutes or until water runs clear. This is to avoid any unclean water entering your household system.
We also ask that you please conserve water as much as possible.

Our Queen Street office closes at 5pm on Friday October 20 and reopens at 8am, Tuesday October 24. For After Hours services please call 0800 932 4357.Our call centre operates 24/7.

Waitomo District Aquatic Centre is open 1pm–5pm.

Te Kuiti Visitor Information Centre i-SITE is open 10am–2pm.

District Transfer Stations: 

Benneydale and Piopio Transfer Stations are closed on Labour Day. Awakino/Mokau, Marokopa and Kinohaku Transfer Stations are open on Labour Day 9am - 1pm.

Waitomo District Library is closed.

Waitomo District Landfill is closed.

There are no Kerbside Refuse and Recycling Collection Services taking place as per normal.

Notice for Temporary Closure of Road/Street To Ordinary Vehicular Traffic

PURSUANT to the Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, notice is hereby given that the Waitomo District Council, for the purpose of the Targa Rally 2017 proposes to temporarily close the following roads/streets to ordinary vehicular traffic for the periods indicated:

STAGE NAME = WAITOMO - from 9:05am to 1:35pmWaitomo Valley Rd, - START at RP0.6 at bridge after Woodlyn Park, *End of this section is outside of Waitomo District, leaving Waitomo District Boundary at RP5.067 Haurua Rd, *Beginning of this section is outside Waitomo District, entering the Waitomo District Boundary at RP3.537 to FINISH at RP0.2 before State Highway 37/Waitomo Caves Rd. 

STAGE NAME = OTEWA - from 10:00am to 4:30pm.Barber Rd, *START is outside Waitomo District, entering the Waitomo District Boundary at RP0.49 and the End of this section is at RP0 at the intersection with Rangitoto Rd. Rangitoto Rd, Beginning of this section is at RP16.44 at Barber Rd intersection, to FINISH at RP7.60 (100 meters) before the Ahoroa Road intersection. 

STAGE NAME = KAWHIA HARBOUR - from 12:50pm to 5:20pmKawhia Harbour Rd, *START is outside Waitomo District, entering the Waitomo District Boundary at RP17.985 at District Boundary (bridge),  and the End of this section is at RP0 at the intersection with Te Waitere Rd.  Te Waitere Rd, Beginning of this section is at RP6.7  at intersection with Kawhia Harbour Rd and the End of this section is at RP0 at the intersection with Taharoa Rd. Taharoa Rd, Beginning of this section is at RP8.8 at the intersection with Te Waitere Rd and the End of this section is at RP0 at the intersection with Marokopa Rd. Marokopa Rd, Beginning of this section is at RP0 at the intersection with Taharoa Rd to FINISH at RP9.190 at house 919.

STAGE NAME = AWAKINO - from 2:05pm to 6:35pm.Mangatoa Rd, START = RP17.3 at beginning of the sealed section,  and the End of this section is at RP27.9 at the intersection with Manganui Rd. Manganui Rd, Beginning of this section is at RP27.9 at the intersection with Mangatoa Rd to FINISH at RP0.2 near the intersection with State Highway 3.

Note: To assist with the stage security, the closure is also to include 50 meters of EACH adjoining road, from where it intersects with this road closure being applied for.

It will be an offence under the above regulations for any person otherwise than under authority to use the road/street for ordinary vehicular traffic during this period of closure.
