Restricted access to Te Kuiti Aerodrome

WDC has recently taken health and safety advice regarding the Te Kuiti Aerodrome.  This advice identified an immediate concern with unrestricted and uncontrolled public access to the Aerodrome.  The signage at the gate on its own, has not achieved the necessary degree of control required.  

The Aerodrome is a multiple use, high risk site.  Members of the public using the area to walk dogs, exercise and observe the planes working can increase the chances of an accident occurring.  As such WDC is taking steps to reduce that risk by restricting access to authorised users of the Aerodrome only.  

WDC will be installing a gate at the main entrance to the Aerodrome off Te Kumi Station Road, with access provided to authorised users only.   

WDC acknowledges this restricted access will cause frustration and disappointment to some members of the public however consideration of health and safety obligations removed any doubt that this is a necessary course of action at this time.  

Notice of Routine Hydrant Flushing

WDC will be undertaking routine hydrant flushing in Te Kuiti, Benneydale, Mokau and Piopio from Wednesday 16 to Friday 18 May 2018.

While undertaking this work, WDC will make every effort to minimise the impact on supply. In the event that temporary deterioration of your water quality occurs due to flushing in your street, it is advisable to first run your garden tap then the others for several minutes to remove any air bubbles and to restore water clarity.
