Postponement again of official opening and blessing of the Mangaokewa Walkway Cultural Storyboards

Waitomo District Council, with the support of Ngāti Rōrā, have made a call to POSTPONE the official opening and blessing of the Mangaokewa Walkway Cultural Storyboards for the second time.This is due to the heavy rain forecast for the rest of the week. The ground will be wet and the weather looks worse for Friday (26 September 2025). It's important to us that this significant occasion is done correctly. We will schedule another blessing to be held later in the year when the weather has improved.

Review of Easter Trading Policy

Waitomo District Council is currently reviewing its Easter Trading Policy, as required by the Shop Trading Hours Act 1990, and we would like your feedback.

The purpose of the Easter Trading Policy is to:

  • Enable shops to trade on Easter Sunday if they want to.
