Waikato Waters proposed Significance & Engagement Policy

Ww Banner (3)

As the drinking water and wastewater service provider for several Waikato districts, we make decisions that affect the essential services people rely on.

Our policy sets out when and how we’ll seek input from customers, communities, iwi, hapū, other Māori organisations and stakeholders before making big decisions.

Not every decision requires public consultation. However, where a proposal or decision may have material consequences, we will engage in a way that reflects the significance of that proposal or decision.

We recognise that effective engagement leads to better decision-making. Communities often have valuable insights into local conditions, service needs, and future aspirations. By listening to different views and local knowledge, we can better understand what matters to people and consider those perspectives in our decision-making.
