Water Alert Level 2 - PIopio
Due to operational issues and the current hot weather, Piopio township will move into Level 2 water restriction from tomorrow - Friday 6 February 2026.
Water conservation measures are required to reduce demand on the water treatment plant. We ask Piopio residents to be mindful of their water use.
Water shutdown notice - William Street and adjoining streets
A water shutdown will be happening from 9am to 3.30pm today along William Street and adjoining streets. This is to allow council contractor Schick Civil to commission a new watermain line. Thank you for your understanding.

Water conservation campaign

Water restrictions have been lifted across the Waitomo District.

The drought experienced this summer combined with the level of water consumption resulted in the introduction of water restrictions and bans for some areas of the district in March.

Residents on Council water supply responded well to the Water Alert Level messages. Council would like to thank the public for their support in the adoption of water conservation measures.
