Leak detection in Maniaiti/Benneydale

Waitomo District Council contractor McIndoe Group are planning to carry out water leak detection in Maniaiti/Benneydale starting this Friday, 19 September 2025.

Leak detection helps identify where there could be faults in the network and can also help determine where water loss is occurring.

The leak detection investigation will occur from 8am to 5pm and although there will be a temporary interruption to water supply, it should not overly disrupt or interfere with normal usage.

BROOK Park will host a huge bonfire and free fireworks display on November 8.

Volunteers have completed a major makeover of the park and walking tracks.

The redevelopment includes signage and information boards, new track markers, post and rail fencing, maintenance work in the arboretum, bush and woodlots and improvements to the barbecue and picnic area.

RELAUNCH

Starting in the late afternoon, the November 8 event is seen as a summer relaunch by Brook Park’s volunteer management committee.

Chairman Guy Whitaker says the professional pyrotechnics display will be the biggest and best Te Kuiti has ever seen.

“The park is looking great after a lot of hard work and the free Guy Fawkes event will be a good opportunity for families to come out, take a look around the park and have some fun.

Plans are underway for barbecues and hot dog stalls, live music, and competitions.

“Come down in the late afternoon, have a walk round the park with your family, get something to eat, enjoy the music, bonfire and fireworks.”

Mr Whitaker says the Guy Fawkes night at Brook Park will be a “top family event” made possible by the support of local businesses.
