Road works - Centennial Park area

Construction work will begin Tuesday 24 June around Centennial Park area to install concrete islands and road line marking. The roads to be marked are: Te Kūiti Road, Park Street, William Street and Ngarongo Road. We ask kindly that this area be kept clear of vehicles and residents do not park on the road for the next couple of days. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Slip on Te Waitere Road – please drive safe

Council is aware of a significant slip on Te Waitere Road. Currently the road is down to one lane with priority give way traffic control in place. Given there is poor weather forecast towards the end of the week, we encourage those needing to pass through this site to be vigilant and drive safely and to the conditions.

Water supply update for Waitomo district

2 Feb 2015, 12:25 PM

Our district received some much needed rainfall over the weekend. However we consider it appropriate to continue with the current water alert level.

  • Level 2 restrictions are currently in place for all Waitomo District water supplies.

We urge residents to use water responsibly so there will be plenty of water available for all.

Level 2

Restrictions

  • Use sprinklers on alternate days between 6-8am and 6-8pm (e.g. even street numbers on even days; odd street numbers on odd days).
  • Hand held hosing is allowed at anytime. We recommend that gardens are watered in the early morning or evening to reduce evaporation.

Quick tips to save water:

  • Use a trigger nozzle on your hose to reduce water waste but remember to turn off the tap when you have finished.
  • Fix leaking taps, hoses and fittings.
  • Water your plants every fourth day, but water for longer periods. This encourages the roots to go deeper into the soil.
  • Use a broom and not a hose to wash paths and driveways.
