Repairs to start on Kumara Road, Aria

6 May 2026, 4:28 PM

Inframax Construction have been awarded the contract to undertake slip repairs on Kumara Road, Aria in response to the 2025 July Storm event.

To fix the slump, a timber pole retaining wall will be constructed within the edge of the road to provide support from further subsidence. This project will also include pavement (road) and drainage improvements.

Inframax established on site on 27 April and plan to complete construction by the start of June.

The site crew will do their best to accommodate residents and road user needs to move through the sites, however, due to the nature of the work, please expect some delays when passing through the site.

In order to complete the construction safely, a road closure will be in place from 11-23 May. The road will be closed from 7am to 2:45pm.

The road will open temporarily from 11am to 11.15am and 1pm to 1.15pm over this period.

Outside of these dates and times above, a single lane closure will be in place with traffic lights controlling access through the site. Delays up to 15 minutes could occur when the site is attended.

An alternative route that could be used during the construction period is Potaka and Totoro Roads.

Inframax have undertaken a letter drop to affected residents with more detail. If you have any concerns regarding this closure and have not received a letter from Inframax, please reach out to the Waitomo District Council customer services team.

We ask for your patience and understanding while we undertake these works to restore full access for the residents and road users on Kumara Road.
