Public notification: Military funeral on Sunday in Te Kūiti.

A forward notice that there will be firing of blank cartridges which produce loud bangs in support of a military funeral sometime between the hours of 1.30pm to 3pm on Sunday in Te Kūiti.

There will be soldiers marching around the town in support of the funeral ceremonial event with weapons, so please do not be alarmed or concerned.

There will also be a road closure at the intersections near the Les Munro Centre in both directions on Sunday 15 March. The closure will be in place at 12.30pm to 1pm. 

Soldier presence in Te Kūiti will be prominent from Saturday afternoon and will increase up to 100+ on the Sunday for the funeral.

Kerbside Refuse and Recycling Collection

Place blue bags and green bin on kerbside by 8.00am on collection day. Collection Days: Mokau, Awakino, Piopio and Waitomo - Tuesday. Te Kuiti - Friday.

Christmas week: Mokau, Awakino, Piopio and Waitomo - collection day takes place as usual on Tuesday 27 December 2016.  Te Kuiti collection will take place as per usual arrangement.

New Years week: Mokau, Awakino, Piopio and Waitomo collection day takes place as usual on Tuesday 3 January 2017. Te Kuiti collection will be as per usual arrangement.

Waitomo District Landfill

43 William Street, Te Kuiti. Phone (07) 878 5230. Normal opening hours are Wednesday to Sunday 9.00am - 4.00pm. The Landfill will be closed on Sunday 25 December 2016 and Sunday 1 January 2017.  

Rural Waste Transfer Stations

All rural transfer stations will be closed on Sunday 25 December 2016 and Sunday 1 January 2017. Benneydale; Piopio, Kinohaku and Mokau Transfer stations will be open as per normal operating days and hours, throughout the festive season plus the additional hours as follows:

Marokopa Transfer Station

Open Wednesday 21 December and Wednesday 28 December from 9.00am to 1.00pm. Wednesday 4 January and Wednesday 11 January 2017 from 9.00am to 1.00pm. Extended opening hours from 23 December to 9 January 2017: Monday and Friday from 9.00am to 5.00pm, Saturday and Sunday from 8.00am to 5.00pm. Please use the recycle bin next to the Transfer Station if you want to deposit recyclables outside of opening hours.

Kinohaku Transfer Station

Wednesday 28 December 2016, 8.00am to 12noon. Wednesday 4 January 2017, 8.00am to 12noon.

Piopio and Benneydale Transfer Stations
