WDC service information Christmas and New Year period

Waitomo District Council Office will close at 3pm on Monday 24 December and re-open 8am on Thursday 3 January 2019.  For all after hours service requests please contact our call centre on Free phone 0800 932 4357, this is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

KERBSIDE REFUSE AND RECYCLING COLLECTION: Place blue bags and green bin on kerbside by 8.00am on collection day.

  • Christmas week: Waitomo ward, Mokau and Piopio’s collection will take place one day later on Wednesday 26 December 2018.Te Kuiti’s collection takes place on Saturday 29 December 2018.
  • New Year week:  Waitomo ward, Mokau and Piopio’s collection will take place one day later on 2 January 2019. Te Kuiti’s collection takes place on 5 January 2019.

WAITOMO DISTRICT LANDFILL 43 William Street, Te Kuiti. Phone (07) 878 5230. The Landfill is open 9am to 4pm from Wednesday to Sunday. Open over the holiday period:

Marokopa Transfer Station (Marokopa Road) is closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day. Open hours over the holiday period:

Piopio Transfer Station (Corner of Aria Rd and Kahuwera Rd) is closed on Christmas Day, Thursday 27 to Friday 28 December. New Years Day, and Thursday 3 January to Friday 4 January 2019. Open hours over the holiday period:

Notice of routine hydrant flushing

WDC will be undertaking routine hydrant flushing in Te Kuiti, Benneydale, Mokau and Piopio from Wednesday 19 to Friday 21 December 2018.

TE KUITI - Eastern Side:

  • Anzac Street, Boddies Terrace, Broadfoot Place, Corinth Avenue, Ellison Avenue, Esplanade, Hinerangi Street, Kiwi Street, Liverpool Street, Mahoe Crescent, Ngarongo Street, Sturgess Terrace, Tammadge Street, Taruna Place, Taupiri Street, Tawa Heights, Tawa Street, Waitete Road, Walker Road, Wesley Avenue.

TE KUITI - Western Side:

While undertaking this work, WDC will make every effort to minimise the impact on supply. In the event that temporary deterioration of your water quality occurs due to flushing in your street, it is advisable to first run your garden tap then the others for several minutes to remove any air bubbles and to restore water clarity.  Please do not run water through in house filters before taps are running clear.
