Road works - Centennial Park area

Construction work will begin Tuesday 24 June around Centennial Park area to install concrete islands and road line marking. The roads to be marked are: Te Kūiti Road, Park Street, William Street and Ngarongo Road. We ask kindly that this area be kept clear of vehicles and residents do not park on the road for the next couple of days. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Slip on Te Waitere Road – please drive safe

Council is aware of a significant slip on Te Waitere Road. Currently the road is down to one lane with priority give way traffic control in place. Given there is poor weather forecast towards the end of the week, we encourage those needing to pass through this site to be vigilant and drive safely and to the conditions.

Caution when visiting our parks and reserves during periods of high winds

21 Jul 2023, 3:56 PM

WDC advises all residents and visitors to exercise caution when visiting our parks and reserves during periods of high winds. Safety is our utmost priority, and we want to ensure that everyone enjoys these spaces responsibly.

Due to the strong winds, there is a possibility of tree limb breakages and trees being blown over. To prevent any potential hazards, we kindly request all visitors to keep a vigilant eye out for any signs of danger and avoid areas that may be affected by the wind.

While we understand the desire to enjoy the outdoors, we encourage everyone to prioritise their safety and wellbeing. Avoiding risky areas during these weather conditions will help prevent accidents and ensure a safe environment for all.

We have already arranged for a suitable contractor, but unfortunately, due to the unsafe weather conditions, they won't be able to address the issue until next week.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
