The WDC Customer Services and Visitor Hub, Waitomo District Library and Admin Building will be closed on on Friday 6 February for Waitangi Day. All waste transfer stations will also be closed.

Water Alert Level 2 - PIopio
Due to operational issues and the current hot weather, Piopio township will move into Level 2 water restriction from tomorrow - Friday 6 February 2026.
Water conservation measures are required to reduce demand on the water treatment plant. We ask Piopio residents to be mindful of their water use.

WRC Obstruction Removal Programme

A section of trees along the Mangaokewa Stream will soon be removed as part of Waikato Regional Council’s Obstruction Removals Programme.

The area downstream from the Te Kūiti Water Treatment Plant intake (pictured) has been prioritised for the next few weeks.

The area will be cordoned off to the public and all safety precautions will be undertaken.
