Large scale works along Carroll Street/SH3 in New Year

Significant traffic diversions will be in place in the New Year as large-scale works will be undertaken along Carroll Street/SH3 in Te Kūiti. From mid-January 2025, Carroll Street/SH3 will be reduced to one lane to allow for Council’s contractor Camex Civil to replace a large watermain. Read more

Road works at Rora Street level crossing
Higgins Contractors will be undertaking a full replacement of the Rora Street level crossing near Te Kūiti Primary School. The work will be carried out over two days from 5am on Sunday 19 January 2025 through to midnight on Monday 20 January. Traffic diversions will be in place.
Please note this work is separate to the railway crossing works being undertaken by Fulton Hogan at the southern end of Rora Street at the same time.

Proposal for Temporary Closure of Road/Street To Ordinary Vehicular Traffic - ANZAC Day 2024

PURSUANT to the Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, notice is hereby given that the Waitomo District Council, for the purpose of the Piopio ANZAC Day Parade and Ceremony 2024 and the Te Kūiti ANZAC Day Parade and Ceremony 2024 proposes to temporarily close the following roads/streets to ordinary vehicular traffic for the periods indicated:
Piopio ANZAC Day

Period of Closure: 8am to 2.30pm
Streets/Roads: Moa Street/SH 3 from Tui and Kaka Streets to Tui and Kuratahi Streets
Ruru Street from Moa/SH 3 to Tui Street intersection

Kea Street
Alternative Routes: Mangaotaki Road, Kaka Street and Tui Street

Period of Closure: 6am to 10.30am 
Streets/Roads: King Street East from Taupiri Street to Jennings Street
Period of Closure: 6am to 7.30am 
Streets/Roads: 32 Taupiri Street to 40 Taupiri Street
Alternative Routes: Rora Street, Sheridan Street, Esplanade, South End Loop
Any person objecting to the proposal is called upon to lodge notice of objection and grounds thereof in writing, before 5pm Tuesday
