Public Meeting - Mōkau Seawall

Saturday 12 April 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

We are holding a public meeting in Mōkau on Saturday 12 April from 1pm to 3pm. Come and have your say about the future of the rock seawall at the end of Point Road, Mōkau.

Waitomo District Council built a rock seawall at the end of Point Road, Mōkau in early 2015 to help slow down the erosion of the end of Point Road and retain beach access. Over time the rock wall has degraded and is now irreparable, which means the seawall either needs to be renewed or removed.

The cost of either option needs to be paid for out of rates, and so whether such costs should be covered by Mōkau ratepayers, district wide (all) ratepayers, or a mix of both is a question we're seeking feedback on as part of our Draft Annual Plan consultation.
