Slip on Te Waitere Road – please drive safe

Council is aware of a significant slip on Te Waitere Road. Currently the road is down to one lane with priority give way traffic control in place. Given there is poor weather forecast towards the end of the week, we encourage those needing to pass through this site to be vigilant and drive safely and to the conditions.

Tawa Street Retaining Wall Extension

18 Dec 2014, 8:14 AM

Waitomo District Council is working to improve the quality of the local Roading Network.

We wish to advise that Inframax Construction Limited has been contracted to carry out the extension to the existing wall on Tawa Street.

This work involves creating a working bench below road level, pile driving steel beams into the ground, tying back into the slope by means of anchors, timber lagging in between steel beams and finally road reinstatement.

Work is planned to start early January and will continue for up to 4 weeks, weather permitting. Construction will generally be undertaken between the hours of 7.30am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday.

At times the public may experience some inconvenience with vehicular movements, however every effort will be made to get the work completed as quickly as possible, with minimal disruption to the public.

We would like to remind the public of the dangers associated with road works. Please make sure children remain well away from the heavy machinery and that they follow the directions of the workers.

WDC appreciates your patience and co-operation.
