The Citizens awards were held on Sunday 29th June. Around 200 people from across the District attended the ceremony.

Three of the four Lifetime Achievement Recipients were in attendance being Oti Poa- Maniapoto Maori Trust Board nominee, Tom Falconer- St John's nominee and Mark Bentham- Piopio Fire Brigade nominee.  Each recipient was well supported by family and friends. Unfortunately John Ash was unable to attend as he was out of the country, however his presentation will be made to him at a later date.

Each lifetime award recipient was presented with a certificate, an engraved silver tray and a small bouquet of flowers for their wives.

This years event is the first year we have not had any female recipients. Special mention was made of the important part the wives and families of this years recipients haved played, in supporting them to fulfil the roles within their chosen organisation.

Lastly was the presentation of the Citizen of the Year Award made to Terry Bradley for the work he does with many groups and volunteers in the community especially the time and effort in helping support work to improve the facilities and opportunities for our youth.  Terry acknowledged the support of his wife, family and the community and dedicated his award to his father who had passed away late last year and credited his father with his passion and desire to do a job and do it well.
