Public notification: Military funeral on Sunday in Te Kūiti.

A forward notice that there will be firing of blank cartridges which produce loud bangs in support of a military funeral sometime between the hours of 1.30pm to 3pm on Sunday in Te Kūiti.

There will be soldiers marching around the town in support of the funeral ceremonial event with weapons, so please do not be alarmed or concerned.

There will also be a road closure at the intersections near the Les Munro Centre in both directions on Sunday 15 March. The closure will be in place at 12.30pm to 1pm. 

Soldier presence in Te Kūiti will be prominent from Saturday afternoon and will increase up to 100+ on the Sunday for the funeral.

Aquatic Centre opens for Summer season

Waitomo District Aquatic Centre opened today for the 2015/16 summer season which runs through to the end of April 2016.

The community facility offers qualified staff focussed on providing a family friendly facility and a safe, healthy and hygienic environment for our customers.

Community Leisure Management (CLM) are planning a wide range of activities including swimming lessons, aquatic exercise classes and fun kids events like the Wave Raves pool party.

Located on Hinerangi Street, the Aquatic Centre is open various times including 6am Mondays, and some late nights (closing at 7.30pm) Tuesday through to Thursdays. You can view the opening hours here. (PDF 163 KB)
