Road works - Centennial Park area

Construction work will begin Tuesday 24 June around Centennial Park area to install concrete islands and road line marking. The roads to be marked are: Te Kūiti Road, Park Street, William Street and Ngarongo Road. We ask kindly that this area be kept clear of vehicles and residents do not park on the road for the next couple of days. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Slip on Te Waitere Road – please drive safe

Council is aware of a significant slip on Te Waitere Road. Currently the road is down to one lane with priority give way traffic control in place. Given there is poor weather forecast towards the end of the week, we encourage those needing to pass through this site to be vigilant and drive safely and to the conditions.

Improvements planned for Brook Park entrance

28 Nov 2017

Waitomo District Council confirmed the Brook Park entranceway project as part of the 2017/18 Annual Plan.

Inframax Construction Limited has been awarded the contract for this project, for the sum of $135,822 plus GST.

A revised works programme was received with a start date of January 2018

The existing concrete kerb and gardens, stone wall and cattle stop will be removed. Relocation of the existing stormwater drainage infrastructure will also be completed.
The entrance road will be widened from 3.8 metres to 6.5 metres, making it safer for vehicles entering Brook Park from Te Kumi Road, and exiting from the Bosco Café car park.  A new fence and garden layout are included in the design.

During the construction period, the site will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians with security fencing and signs in place. Public access to Brook Park is available from Eketone Street.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of February 2018.
