Apply early for Special alcohol licences for summer events

If you're holding an event this summer that will need a special alcohol licence, please plan ahead and apply as soon as possible.
Under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 (the Act), all applications must be made at least 20 working days before the event is held (although exceptions can be made for unforseen events such as funerals).
If your event occurs between 20 December 2017 to mid-February 2018 the application must be lodged with the Waitomo District Licensing Committee by 20 November 2017.
That’s because under the Act, non-working days for processing Special Licences are 20 December - 15 January the following year.
