Work now underway at Te Kuiti Aerodrome

A project to improve the Te Kuiti Aerodrome is now underway. This work programme involves the construction of a new roadway, an upgrade of the entrance to the Aerodrome, partial resurfacing of the runway, fencing and drainage works.
Maintaining this asset will improve drainage, extend the life of the runway surface and ensure the future safe operation of the facility.
Background information:
Council approved the aerodrome future plan at the 30 October 2018 Council meeting. This included a budget of $150,000 for a new widened entranceway, installation of an automated gate, fencing and a new access road (for the 2018/19 and 2019/20 financial years).
In addition to the above, included in the Exceptions Annual Plan 2019/20 was Capital Expenditure budget of $95,000 for runway resurfacing renewals and taxiway renewal, to address critical health and safety considerations at the Te Kuiti Aerodrome.
