Slip on Te Waitere Road – please drive safe

Council is aware of a significant slip on Te Waitere Road. Currently the road is down to one lane with priority give way traffic control in place. Given there is poor weather forecast towards the end of the week, we encourage those needing to pass through this site to be vigilant and drive safely and to the conditions.

Pool facelifts underway

2 Aug 2023, 2:26 PM

Waitomo District Aquatic Centre pools will receive facelifts in time for the summer season.

Painting and maintenance contractor Carus Group Ltd will undertake the work, which includes minor maintenance and painting.

Waitomo District Council’s General Manager Infrastructure Services, Shyamal Ram says Carus brings extensive experience in pool refurbishment and pool structural remedial work, having completed similar projects for various councils and schools.

“We understand the importance of this project, we also acknowledge that there may be some noise and disturbances during the works being carried out.

“The Property and Facilities team is excited to see this project kick off this month with completion expected to be end of September or sooner weather permitting.

“We are committed to providing an outstanding facility for the community, and we look forward to observing the positive impact this project will have once completed. We are confident the end result will greatly benefit the community, including schools, swimming clubs, and all pool users.

“Council values and appreciates your understanding and cooperation, particularly concerning the neighbours in close proximity to the Aquatic Centre, as we strive to enhance the facility for everyone's enjoyment.”
