🔴 Severe Thunderstorm Warning - parts of Waitomo District 🔴
Metservice has issued a RED severe thunderstorm warning for part of the Waitomo District.
The thunderstorms are expected to be accompanied by torrential rain.
Impact: Torrential rain can cause surface and/or flash flooding about streams, gullies and urban areas, and make driving conditions extremely hazardous.
🔴 Please do not travel if you do not have to, and stay safe and drive to the conditions if you need to travel in this weather.

PLEASE DRIVE SAFE THROUGH AWAKINO GORGE
We are aware that Awakino River is rising quite quickly. If you are travelling along SH3 in the Awakino Gorge, please exercise extreme caution.
Please do not undertake any unnecessary travel, but drive safely and to the conditions if you have to.

Waitomo District Council’s customer services moves to Te Kūiti’s main street.

From Monday 15 May, all customer services will be available at the Railway Building next to Stoked Eatery on Rora Street.

Manager - Customer Services, Kat Brown-Merrin says the shift to Rora Street is about bringing Council’s services to the community and providing more ease of access.

“The community and our customers are important to us. Our aim is to have more community presence, and by moving to a more centralised location we can provide a more user friendly and accessible customer service.”

Opening hours will be from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday and we can still be contacted 24/7 on 0800 932 4357.
