The WDC Customer Services and Visitor Hub, Waitomo District Library and Admin Building will be closed on on Friday 6 February for Waitangi Day. All waste transfer stations will also be closed.

Change of days to temporary Awakino Waste Transfer Station schedule
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to change the open days of the Awakino Waste Transfer Station for the last week of the extended holiday schedule.
It will now open from 9am to 1pm on the following days:
Sunday
Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday
Thursday
The normal schedule will for Awakino Transfer Station will resume Sunday 8 February 2026.

Scheduled Road Closure: SH30 / SH3 / Waitete Road intersections - 23-24 May

SCHEDULED ROAD CLOSURE || SH30 will be closed on 23-24 May while Higgins works on SH30 between the SH3/30 and SH30/Waitete Road intersections.
This work is being delivered on behalf of KiwiRail.
The upgraded works are expected to take a total of two days to complete. The existing footpath across the railway crossing will be unaffected, but expect there to be a temporary stop if the works encroach on the footpath.
The works will be weather dependent, and if the weather isn't suitable, the works may be postponed to the following Sunday and Monday 30-31 May.
