TRANSFER STATIONS, LANDFILL AND RECYCLING AT ALERT LEVEL 3 – STEP 1
Previously under Alert Level 3, we have been unable to provide a recycling service due to the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) - which accepts Waitomo District’s recycling – being closed under Level 3 and 4.
Due to a change in service levels at the MRF, we can now reinstate a recycling service in our district.
Kerbside recycling collection services will resume with the normal kerbside collection NEXT WEEK - Tuesday 2 November for Piopio, Mokau/Awakino, and the Waitomo ward and Village, and Friday 5 November for Te Kuiti Township.
Recycling will NOT be picked up with kerbside collection in Te Kuiti township today.
Kerbside bagged refuse collection will also continue for Maniaiti/Benneydale residents next Thursday.
We understand many households will have a large amount of recycling stored away, but please do not put out overloaded bins as they will not be collected. We would appreciate if you spread recycling over a few collections.
Alternatively, a staged opening of our transfer stations will commence on Saturday 30 October 2021 over limited hours. This will allow those who are not serviced by Council's kerbside collection to dispose of their household rubbish and clear their backlog of recycling.
PLEASE NOTE: This service will only be for WDC Blue rubbish bags and clean recycling.
