You can join online here within minutes.
You can choose between a physical or a digital membership:
An adult or child membership allows you access to the physical and digital library. For an adult or child membership, you will be required to show I.D and proof of address at the library within two weeks of completing your membership form.
A digital membership allows you access to any of our online services only.

All items need to be paid for at the time they are issued unless previously arranged with library management.
How do I renew my books?
You can renew your books online, by phone, via the library app or in person at the library.
How long can I use the internet for and how much does it cost?
WiFi is available throughout the library and surrounding areas during opening hours. Chromebooks are also available for use within the library and may be borrowed for a minimum of 30 minutes per day, subject to availability. Internet access is provided free of charge through the Aotearoa People's Network Kaharoa (APNK) initiative.
Are you open over the weekend?
We are not currently open during the weekend. However, we have a range of online resources that are available to use 24/7.
Can I access the catalogue from home?
The online library catalogue is available here.
You can view the library's collection, check your account, renew your items and place holds on items. Any holds you place will be put aside for collection as soon as they become available. There is no charge for this service.
Lost your card or forgotten your pin?
If you contact the library team on 07 878 1028, we can reset your PIN and, if required, arrange a replacement library card for collection during your next visit. Please remember to bring a form of photo ID with you.
Please note: Some of our online resources may ask for a PIN, while others may ask for a password. These terms refer to the same thing.
Does it cost anything to request a book?
Requests of items held by our library are free. These books will be put aside for you when they become available.
However, if we borrow an item from another library for you (known as an interloan), there will be a postage fee included.
How will I know when my request is ready to collect?
The library team will contact you by phone, email or text message.
What if I can't find an item I want?
You can request us to borrow the item from another library. This is know as an interloan.

Most of the book collections are free to borrow. However, some of our specialist collections may include a borrowing charge. See the library fees in the Fees and Charges schedule for more information.
How long can I borrow an item for?
Most items in our collection can be borrowed for up to three weeks and renewed once, provided there are no holds or requests from other borrowers. Loan periods may vary for some of our special collections. If you would like more information, please contact the library on 07 878 1028.
Are there fines for late returns?
