Making a service request or complaint to WDC

We receive service requests from the public about a range of WDC services and activities. Our system notifies us of problems with services in our community, so that we can attend to them as soon as possible. The public can phone WDC 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on our freephone number 0800 932 4357.

FixMyStreet is an internet site where you can report local issues to WDC like graffiti, litter or street repairs, in a way that is easy to remember and easy to use.  New requests and status updates are sent to and from FixMyStreet and WDC’s service request system. You can include a photo of the issue and you can use the app on your iPhone or Android smart phone. Visit fixmystreet.org.nz

Annual Restricted Fire Season is coming

With the aim of keeping the Waitomo District safer around fires during the summer, Waitomo District Council will introduce a fixed restricted fire season aligning with the Otorohanga District Council. While we are not removing the option to burn rubbish and garden waste we do encourage people to instead take the rubbish to your nearest transfer station where it can be safely disposed of.

The Restricted Fire Season for open fires starts at midnight on 9 January 2017 and concludes midnight on 31 March 2017. The season may begin earlier or be extended due to dry weather conditions. Anyone lighting an open air fire which includes; campfires, cooking fires, braziers, rubbish fires (including 44 gallon drums and rubbish pits), controlled burns and prescribed burns - must obtain a Fire Permit from WDC. There is no cost to obtain a permit. We may need to undertake an inspection of the site prior to issuing a permit so please ensure that your application is lodged at least three working days prior to the date you intend on lighting the fire.
