Construction work will begin Tuesday 24 June around Centennial Park area to install concrete islands and road line marking. The roads to be marked are: Te Kūiti Road, Park Street, William Street and Ngarongo Road. We ask kindly that this area be kept clear of vehicles and residents do not park on the road for the next couple of days. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Slip on Te Waitere Road – please drive safe

Council is aware of a significant slip on Te Waitere Road. Currently the road is down to one lane with priority give way traffic control in place. Given there is poor weather forecast towards the end of the week, we encourage those needing to pass through this site to be vigilant and drive safely and to the conditions.

Voting in 2016 local council elections

28 Sep 2016

Waitomo District Council voters are now able to cast their votes in the 2016 local council elections.

Voting papers have been mailed to registered voters. If you have not received your voting papers yet, please contact Waitomo District Council Deputy Electoral Officer, Jo Gread, on 07 878 0800.

Voting papers must be received by the Council before midday on Election Day, 8 October 2016.

The voting papers for Waitomo District Council will use the First Past the Post (FPP) voting system. For the FPP system voters are required to put a tick alongside the candidate(s) they wish to vote for.

In your voting pack, you will also receive your District Health Board papers which will use the STV voting system to elect its members.

Voting papers will contain clear instructions on how to vote.

“People should read their papers carefully before casting their vote to ensure they are using the right voting method,” says Jo Gread

“Although electoral rolls have now closed, people can still enrol to vote. However, they will need to request special voting papers,” Jo Gread says.

“Voting closes at midday on 8 October. I would encourage anyone who has not yet registered to do so and cast a special vote. It’s their opportunity to have a say on how Waitomo District Council is run over the next three years.”

Enrolment forms and information are available by contacting the Deputy Electoral Officer at Waitomo District Council on 07 878 0800.
