Public notification: Military funeral on Sunday in Te Kūiti.

A forward notice that there will be firing of blank cartridges which produce loud bangs in support of a military funeral sometime between the hours of 1.30pm to 3pm on Sunday in Te Kūiti.

There will be soldiers marching around the town in support of the funeral ceremonial event with weapons, so please do not be alarmed or concerned.

There will also be a road closure at the intersections near the Les Munro Centre in both directions on Sunday 15 March. The closure will be in place at 12.30pm to 1pm. 

Soldier presence in Te Kūiti will be prominent from Saturday afternoon and will increase up to 100+ on the Sunday for the funeral.

Dog Registration Fees 2023/2024

Public Notice is hereby given that the Dog Registration Fees for the 2023/2024 financial year have been set by Waitomo District Council resolution in various categories as set out below:
Registration Fee (including GST) is to be paid on or before 31 July 2023. Fees apply to dogs aged 3 months and over, and are for the year 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024 registration.


Urban owner (as per definition) - $125
Urban spayed/neutered dogs - $93
Selected owner - $73
Rural owner - $52
Dangerous dog - 150% of applicable fee
50% penalty fee applies from 1 August 2023.

Pound, Seizure and Miscellaneous Fees

Seizure - $65
Impound - First (registered) - $70
Impound - First (unregistered) - $105
Second - $145
Third and subsequent - $210
Sustenance (per day) - $18

NOTE: Any fees incurred in the seizure, custody, sustenance and transport of a dog are required to be paid before its release from impoundment.
Rehoming of unwanted / unclaimed dogs (unregistered) will be the applicable registration fee and microchipping fee.

Microchipping fee - $25
Application for permit to keep more than two dogs (urban) - $40
Surrender fee - $80
