Public notification: Military funeral on Sunday in Te Kūiti.

A forward notice that there will be firing of blank cartridges which produce loud bangs in support of a military funeral sometime between the hours of 1.30pm to 3pm on Sunday in Te Kūiti.

There will be soldiers marching around the town in support of the funeral ceremonial event with weapons, so please do not be alarmed or concerned.

There will also be a road closure at the intersections near the Les Munro Centre in both directions on Sunday 15 March. The closure will be in place at 12.30pm to 1pm. 

Soldier presence in Te Kūiti will be prominent from Saturday afternoon and will increase up to 100+ on the Sunday for the funeral.

Customer Service Centre

Closes at 12pm Friday 22 December, reopening 9am Monday 8 January 2024. Our call centre will operate 24/7. For After Hours please call 0800 932 4357.

WDC Admin Office

Closes at 12pm Friday 22 December, reopening 9am Monday 8 January 2024.

Waitomo District Library

Closes at 12pm Friday 22 December, reopening 10am Wednesday 3 January 2024.

Kerbside Collection

Te Kūiti kerbside collection will take place as normal. Piopio, Awakino, Mōkau and Waitomo's Kerbside Collection will take place on Wednesday 27 December 2023 and Wednesday 3 January 2024.

Waitomo District Landfill and Transfer Stations

Maniaiti/Benneydale, Kinohaku, Piopio, and Marokopa transfer stations will be closed on Monday 25 December 2023 and Monday 1 January 2024. However, during the rest of the holiday period, all locations will maintain regular operating hours.

Waitomo District Aquatic Centre

Closed Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Regular hours remain for the rest of the holiday period.
